Carregal do Sal organizes Expo Dão dedicated to wine, pine cone and pine nut

The first edition of Expo Dão, a fair of endogenous products, especially dedicated to pine nuts, pine cones and wine, will take place in May in Carregal do Sal, the Mayor announced today.
"Instead of the pine nut and pine cone fair, usually held in January, we are organizing Expo Dão, a fair of endogenous products with special attention to pine nuts and pine cones, but also to our wine, Dão", announced Paulo Catalino Ferraz.

The Mayor of Carregal do Sal, in the district of Viseu, spoke to journalists today to present some of the municipality's upcoming initiatives, among which he highlighted the first edition of Expo Dão, from May 23 to 26.
"There was this huge gap in focusing on a single endogenous product, such as pine nuts and pine cones, leaving out one of the richest products, namely the vineyard", he justified.
This is because, he added, Carregal do Sal, "currently accounts for about 40% of national exports of Dão wine.
Paulo Catalino Ferraz said that "there are already 80 confirmed exhibitors and all of them from the municipality or with connections to the municipality, as is the case of some wine producers who have their headquarters in another municipality, but have part of their vineyard in Carregal" do Sal.
"We do not want to compete with other fairs, nor compete with other municipalities, but we want to make our endogenous products known, including wine, and that is why Expo Dão will be in May, the date chosen by the producers because there is no other fair", he said.
During the four days, there will be two seminars, one dedicated to pine nuts and pine cones and another to wine, and chefs with the realization of 'show cooking' very focused on the two products.
Expo Dão will also have space for catering, tasting and entertainment, and will take place in the square in front of the Town Hall, with exhibitors of wine, cheese and sausages, inside the business incubator, at Mercado D'Ideias, because it is air-conditioned.
