Looking to lose weight? You can (and should) start by making some changes to your diet. For example, Michael Mosley, a doctor and diet expert, quoted in the Mirror, advises that you avoid certain foods that won't help you reach this goal. Which ones? 

According to the doctor, you should completely avoid sugar at breakfast, i.e., foods such as sugary cereals and cakes. It is important to control the consumption of this type of food because it causes "a spike in sugar and, shortly after, leaves us hungry". Try opting for more filling things in the morning, such as eggs or oatmeal. 

He also recommends that you avoid starchy carbohydrates, the list of which includes foods such as bread, pasta, potatoes and white rice. As an alternative, he mentions whole grains such as bulgur, whole rye, whole barley, wild rice and buckwheat.
