Kate Middleton receives new distinction from Charles III (she was the first in the royal family)

Kate Middleton has been honored with a new role by King Charles III. The Princess of Wales has been appointed as a Royal Companion of the Order of the Companions of Honour, Hello! magazine reports.
The order recognizes the princess' work as a royal and her support of and interest in the arts.
Prince William's wife is the first royal to be appointed to the honor in the Royal Companion's 107-year history.
The Princess of Wales is a royal patron of the National Portrait Gallery, the V&A and the Photographic Society, among other roles.
Other members of the order include David Attenborough, Margaret Atwood, Dame Judi Dench, Paul McCartney and Elton John, to name a few.
The Order of the Companions of Honour — capped at 65 people — was founded by King George V in 1917 and recognizes achievements in the arts, sciences, medicine and public service.
Kate is currently battling a cold, which has kept her from public royal engagements.
