Cecília Borges will be Ema, the protagonist of the new seasons of 'Morangos Com Açúcar', from TVI/ Prime Video. The recordings have already started on Carcavelos beach, in Cascais, and Fama ao Minuto was present on the first day.

Speaking to journalists, the 24-year-old actress talked a little about her career and how she felt when she found out she had been chosen to play the protagonist.

Is this your first job?

It's my first job on television, but I've already done theater. I studied at the Higher School of Theater and Cinema.

How did your participation in 'Morangos' come about?

I did a casting last year for the other seasons and I didn't get in. I was very sad. This year I did a new casting and I thought it hadn't gone so well, but later that week I ended up receiving a call where they told me I had gotten in. For me it was a normal day, I was cleaning my room! (laughs)

And how was it? Last year you weren't accepted and now you're the protagonist...

I still can't quite believe it. I think I'll only believe it when I start recording, on Wednesday [April 17th]. I'm still very much in a dream, I couldn't really believe it, it's an excellent opportunity and I wasn't expecting it at all.

Are you from Lisbon?

No, I'm from Viseu. I came here five years ago. I studied dance and then I came to Lisbon to study theater.

Do you have any advantage over your colleagues, since you have training in dance and this season you need to dance... 

I love to dance and Contemporary Dance is my favorite. But my colleagues move very well, they have a lot of energy!  

What can you tell us about your character? Who is Ema?

I feel that Ema is a bit like me. She came from Porto, I came from Viseu. She came to Lisbon to go to the conservatory and entered Colégio da Barra with a scholarship. Ema is a very reserved girl, very funny and loves to dance. She is a very artistic person.

Who plays your mother in the series?

It's Maya Booth. I'm very happy to act with her. And I'm going to have a sister in the series, but I can't say who it is yet.

And will Ema suffer for love?

Yes... but what would 'Morangos Com Açúcar' be without suffering for love? (Laughs) I can reveal here that my first 'crush' was from 'Morangos, it was 'Fred', [Paulo Rocha, who was in the second and third seasons of the series].

What is the biggest challenge you feel in playing this character?

The inner complexity that she has. I think she is a person who doesn't show anything she feels and that's why she is a challenging character.
