Joe Flaherty, an actor who appeared in films including “Back to the Future Part II,” has died at the age of 82.
The news was confirmed by the performer’s daughter, Gudrun, in a statement to Variety via the Comedic Artists Alliance — which had previously organized a fundraiser to help Flaherty afford 24-hour care.
“After a brief illness, he passed away yesterday [April 1], and I’m still reeling from the shock,” Gudrun said.
“He was an extraordinary man, known for his boundless heart and his unwavering passion for 1940s and ’50s cinema,” she added, noting that in “these last few months,” as the actor dealt with health issues, “we were able to watch many of those classic films together.”
“Moments I will cherish forever,” Flaherty’s daughter concluded.
Flaherty’s other credits include “One Crazy Summer” (1986), “The Glimmer Man” (1996), “Freaks and Geeks” (1999) and “Detroit Rock City” (1999).
