In a statement, Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues states that he has notified all the mayors of the municipalities of the Porto Metropolitan Area (AMP) of the decision of the Court of Auditors that, "after analyzing the documentation", issued a favorable opinion to the company that will be responsible for managing mobility in the region.

"This approval is the result of the commitment to continuous improvement of the AMP's mobility, a fundamental pillar in the economic and social development of the territory, as well as greater efficiency and transparency in the administration of public resources allocated to the region's mobility", says Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues, who is also mayor of Vila Nova de Gaia.

The company Transportes Metropolitanos do Porto (TMP) "will be, in the future, responsible for the quality of the provision of public passenger transport services, always aiming at the well-being and satisfaction of citizens and the sustainable development of the Porto metropolitan area", he adds.

The new AMP transport company is expected to have around 60 employees, including three directors, according to an economic and financial study that Lusa recently had access to.

The company should integrate the skills of TIP - Transportes Intermodais do Porto, the complementary business group (ACE) that manages the Andante system (participated in equal percentage - 33.3% - by CP, Metro do Porto and STCP), and the AMP's skills in terms of mobility and transport.

"At the time of TMP's incorporation, the staff will be composed of TIP employees [Transportes Intermodais do Porto] (currently 13, assigned by ACE members and to which 20 outsourced employees allocated to Andante stores are added), by AMP employees essentially allocated to the current area of mobility and transport (7) and by new hires that may occur, including for the corporate bodies", reads the study.

According to the document, "the staffing was built based on a comparative basis with the current municipal companies, also considering the volume of business and responsibilities to be assumed by TMP".

The company should be led by a three-member Board of Directors, supported by a financial office of four and a legal office of three, followed in the hierarchy by the departments of General Administration (seven people), Studies and Planning (eight), Contract Management (seven) and Operation Management (28).

The constitution of TMP will also imply the creation of two advisory bodies: the Metropolitan Mobility Council and the Consultative Council of Technologies for Mobility.

The economic and financial study estimates that the company that will manage the Unir network and the Andante ticketing system will have 66 million euros in revenue in 2024 (of which 33.8 million in ticketing and 23.1 million in operating subsidies), a number that should rise to 74.9 million in 2028 (39.7 million in ticketing and 24.4 million in subsidies).

Regarding expenses, the study predicts that they should reach 64.6 million in 2024, most of which refer to payments to operators of the five lots of the Unir network (61.4 million). The amount should rise to 73.7 million euros in 2028 (of which 70 million from the Unir network).

The study predicts that, from 2024 to 2028, TMP will make profits of 16 thousand, 39 thousand, 60 thousand, 73 thousand and one thousand euros, respectively.

The company's share capital will be two million euros, divided among the 17 municipalities of the AMP.
