De Rossi 'catches up' with Mourinho: "I don't look at that points race"

Roma coach Daniele De Rossi spoke to Sky Sport after the second act of the match that ended up being won 1-2 at Udinese's ground, one week after the start of the match. It was a dramatic triumph, with a header goal by Cristante at 90+4'.

"I tried to put on the pitch as many players as possible who could score goals, with a shot from outside or a header. I took out players like Paredes to make way for Cristante, a header, or Pellegrini. And I put in Angelino for his ability to cross", the coach analysed.

Then, he was asked if he was surprised to have the same number of points as José Mourinho this season, with far fewer matches played. De Rossi did not engage in comparisons.

"I look at everything except the points race between me and the coach.... It is obvious that we are doing well and that we have reopened conversations that seemed closed when I arrived. Not so much because of the points, but because of the teams in front. The boys are doing an incredible job, but I think that even with Mourinho they would have done it, because it all starts with them. They have a huge heart. I think that, even without me, they would have succeeded", he said.
