Rafa Nadal wins the 'kid' of 16 years in a historic duel
Will meet De Minaur, his last executioner, in the next round.

At the Madrid Masters 1000, Rafa Nadal beat 16-year-old Darwin Blanch (6-1, 6-0) in just over an hour, in a historic duel. Now he awaits De Miñaur, against whom he lost a few days ago in Barcelona: "A week has passed, now I feel better", said the Spanish tennis player after this triumph.
In the generational duel between Rafa Nadal, 37, and Darwin Blanch, 16, the champion's tired body got the better of the teenager's nerves, in his second game in a Masters 1000.
In the duel with the biggest age difference in the history of the Masters 1000, Spaniard Rafael Nadal made his history in Madrid count and got the better of it.
In the second round, the home player will face Australian Alex de Minaur again, in the sixth duel between them. Rafa won the first three (Wimbledon 2018, Australian Open 2019 and ATP Cup 2020) and lost the last two, this year in Barcelona and last year in the United Cup.
