Simon Jordan, the former Crystal Palace owner, has used his column in the Daily Mail to take aim at Pep Guardiola over his constant criticism of the English football calendar.
The pundit says he "understands" the frustrations of the Manchester City boss, who he considers to be "a football coaching genius, an outstanding man-manager", but insists he "has to accept" the conditions he is working under if he wants to enjoy the "adulation, applause, benefits and remuneration" that comes with the job.
"Nobody is getting shot at while they are getting off a helicopter like in 'Platoon', they are playing a game of football, so excuse me while I roll my eyes and clutch my players. This is what happens when you give managers too much power. They say what they want, when they want," he wrote.
"They offer no solutions, just whinge about the problem. If they want to come forward with a structured plan of how they see this working between broadcasters and clubs - bearing in mind they are paid vast sums of money because of these TV deals - rather than just telling people how it doesn't work, then maybe they will get some traction."
