Borussia Dortmund sealed their place in the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday evening after beating Atlético Madrid 4-2, overturning their 2-1 first-leg defeat at the Civitas Metropolitano.

In front of a packed Signal Iduna Park, the German team had a truly 'devilish' first half and took the lead after 34 minutes, thanks to a precise shot from Julian Brandt, in a move where Jan Oblak, former Benfica goalkeeper, could have done more.

Just five minutes later, in a move that was practically a carbon copy, Ian Maatsen entered the Colchoneros' area from the left wing of the attack and, with a real 'shot', put the ball in the back of the net, completing the 'upset' in the tie.

If the game was going well for the home team up to half-time, the second half could not have started worse, as just four minutes after the teams returned from the dressing rooms, Mats Hummels, in an attempt to deflect a dangerous header, put the ball into his own goal.

On 64 minutes, it was Ángel Correa's turn, who had just 'jumped' off the bench, to give the Spaniards reason to celebrate... but not for long, as Niclas Fullkrug and Marcel Sabitzer scored in quick succession to seal their qualification for the next round once and for all.

Preview

Atlético de Madrid will be looking to book their place in the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday evening at Signal Iduna Park, after beating Borussia Dortmund 1-2 last week at the Civitas Metropolitano.

Rodrigo de Paul broke the deadlock in the fourth minute, before Samuel Lino, a former Gil Vicente player, scored. However, a precise shot from Sébastien Haller in the 81st minute left the tie open.

The winner of this match will face Barcelona or Paris Saint-Germain in the next round, teams that will face each other at the same time, with a narrow advantage for João Félix, João Cancelo and company.

Borussia Dortmund-Atlético de Madrid will be refereed by Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic, and you can follow it live from 8 pm (mainland Portugal time) on Desporto ao Minuto.
