Nuno Borges climbs three places in the world ranking

Portuguese Nuno Borges climbed three positions today to 55th place in the world tennis rankings, with Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas reentering the top 10 after triumphing at the Masters 1.000 in Monte Carlo.

Even without having played any tournament, Nuno Borges came close to the top 50 again in the week he will debut as a seed in an ATP tour tournament, in Bucharest, where, as the seventh seed, he will face Swiss Stan Wawrinka in the first round.

With no changes in the top 5, Serbian Novak Djokovic remains the leader of the ranking, ahead of Italian Jannik Sinner and Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz.

With a triumph in Monte Carlo, the first Masters 1,000 on clay of the season, Tsitsipas climbed five places, to sixth, while the defeated finalist, Norwegian Casper Ruud climbed four positions and is now sixth.

In a week when the Billie Jean Cup was played, there were no changes in the women's ranking, with Francisca Jorge remaining in 190th place as the best Portuguese, while Polish Iga Swiatek is the leader, ahead of Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka and American Coco Gauff.
