After the defeat of Lens, sixth in the table, against Metz on Friday, the two teams could have closed in on the last qualifying place, something they failed to do, with Reims seventh on 40 points, three behind Lens and four behind Nice (fifth), and Rennes next in ninth, on 39 points.

Marseille, Benfica's opponents in the Europa League quarter-finals, are eighth and could take advantage of the slip-ups of their direct rivals in this round, which they will only play on April 24.

In Strasbourg, the home team, in a comfortable 12th place, even saw Reims take the lead through Keito Nakamura after just seven minutes, but they turned the game around with goals from Kevin Gameiro (44), Abakar Sylla (50) and Moise Sahi Dion (90+2), with the visitors finishing with 10 men after Amadou Kone was sent off (45+7).

Playing at home, Rennes scored first, in the 20th minute, through Desire Doue, but Toulouse needed just 12 minutes to turn the result around, thanks to goals from Cristian Casseres (22) and Moussa Diarra (32).

Toulouse, eliminated by Benfica in the play-off for the Europa League round of 16, are in 11th place, with 36 points.
