Huawei's current chairman Xu Zhijun said during the 2024 Analyst Summit - which took place last week in China - that the company's goal is to strengthen the presence of the HarmonyOS system worldwide.
As The Register website recalls, the HarmonyOS operating system was developed and launched by Huawei after the sanctions imposed by the US came into force, which prevented the Chinese company from having access to Google's Android.
After regaining its position in the Chinese mobile phone market, Huawei now hopes to do the same in the rest of the world and work closely with developers so that they have the tools and knowledge necessary to develop apps for HarmonyOS.
So far, around 4,000 applications have been developed for the latest version of HarmonyOS, with Huawei expecting to reach the first million dedicated apps in the near future.
