April 25. Marcelo "stepped over" the difficulties of the people in the country
The PCP secretary-general considered today that the President of the Republic, in his speech on April 25, "overlooked" the difficulties that people are going through and also "the political options" that led to the situation.

In statements to journalists at the end of the solemn session commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, the communist stated that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa made "an intervention limited to figures, names, ignoring two fundamental aspects, first of all, the political options that led to these different moments that the President characterized, and ignoring a concrete reality of people's lives and the solutions that were opened up with this April of 50 years ago and that need to be implemented".
Paulo Raimundo said he agreed with the head of state in the "idea that democracy requires that responses be given to the majority of people" and argued that "this has to be accompanied by concrete measures", such as "higher salaries, access to the National Health Service, access to education, less precariousness, less unregulated working hours, less of what puts pressure on the lives of the majority of the population".
"We think that the President of the Republic, making a generic statement about the difficulties that people live in, forgot to get to the point, ignored the concreteness of life", he criticized.
Paulo Raimundo stated that in the last five decades the country has experienced "a process of right-wing politics with extraordinary improvements from the point of view of the post-revolution, of course, but which is leading and pushing towards a path of increasing inequalities" and stressed that April "was made to respond to the majority and not to the minority".
"And it is this path that needs to be reversed, it is this cycle of right-wing politics that needs to be put an end to once and for all, and to resume the path of April, the path of justice", he defended, asking that the rights enshrined in the Constitution, which "cost so much to build, be expressed in the lives of all people".
