André Ventura made these statements at a dinner rally held in Boliqueime, in the municipality of Loulé, which was attended by around 150 supporters and during which he thanked Chega for their victory in the legislative elections in the Algarve.

"Everyone knows one thing, that we do not associate with the corrupt", said the president of Chega.

André Ventura guaranteed that, "regardless of what Miguel Albuquerque says", leader of the PSD of Madeira and the party's candidate in the elections for the regional parliament, there is "a red line" that Chega will not cross.

"Whatever the majorities that are given, and I hope that Chega grows a lot, there will be no agreement with us in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, because we have zero tolerance for corruption", he assured.

The president of the third most voted party in the last legislative elections spoke to the around 150 participants in the dinner after having participated in the afternoon in Faro in the meeting of the party's 17th National Council.

At the party meeting in Faro, the national councillors elected at the 6th National Convention were sworn in and voted in favour of the party's annual accounts - budget for 2024 and accounts for 2023 - having also made an analysis of the electoral results and the general political situation.

"It was here in this land [Algarve] that we won and I thought it was symbolic, because one day I want - me or Chega - to win throughout the country, and I think we should cultivate the moments when we win", said André Ventura to the diners, praising the party's victory in the district of Faro.

André Ventura considered that he had "a defeat" by not winning the elections at a national level, but stressed that if a party with five years managed to win in the Algarve and "break the two-party system", it is also possible in the future to win at a national level.

"Winning in the entire district is not my victory or the victory because I fought as party president, but it is a great victory for history and I thank you all for this victory", said Ventura to the members and leaders of the Algarve region.

André Ventura said he "does not accept living in a country where it is said that the PS and PSD must always govern and it is impossible for Chega to govern one day".

"I believe that with me or not with me, one day we will win the legislative elections in Portugal", he said.

André Ventura also criticized the new PSD Government because of immigration, saying that, before winning the elections, the social democrats were in favour of controlling borders and reversing the extinction of the Foreigners and Borders Service, but now they are already talking about the Democratic Alliance (coalition between PSD, CDS and PPM) programme for the migration agency.

"We know very well that Portugal needs immigrants, but there is one thing we know, we need a police force to control our borders, they promised us that we would have control of our borders, but they didn't, because they are weak and lax on immigration, as we never were and never will be", he said.
