The Public Security Police (PSP) of Lisbon arrested, on April 23, at 9:45 pm, a 41-year-old man because there was an arrest warrant against him for a crime of theft in commercial buildings.
The police officers, at the Cais do Sodré Station of the Lisbon Metro, saw the suspect crossing the passage from the unpaid zone to the paid zone, next to another passenger, so they intercepted him.
According to a statement to which the Notícias ao Minuto had access, "an identification document was requested to verify if there was any criminal offense pending on him, and it was found that there was an arrest warrant for a crime of theft in commercial or industrial buildings with breaking, climbing or false keys, for payment of five hundred euros, converted into sixty-six days of subsidiary imprisonment".
The defendant did not pay the fine, having been taken to the Lisbon Prison Establishment, to serve his sentence, the letter finally reveals.
