Collision between bus and tractor kills one in Gouveia
A road collision between a bus and a farm tractor caused one death this morning on the EN17 near the junction for Melo, in the municipality of Gouveia, Guarda district, the Civil Protection told Lusa.

According to the Beiras and Serra da Estrela Sub-regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection, the alert for a road collision between a heavy passenger vehicle carrying students and an agricultural tractor was received at 7:51 am.
"Initially, it was reported that there was one victim in serious condition, who was the driver of the tractor, but in the meantime, he was declared dead", said the Civil Protection source.
The Guarda GNR told Lusa that the collision between the two vehicles resulted in the death of the tractor driver, a 79-year-old man.
The 2nd commander of the Melo Volunteer Firefighters, Carlos Costa, confirmed that the victim was initially classified as seriously injured, but ended up not resisting the injuries.
The same source said that there were no injuries among the passengers of the bus that was transporting the students to Gouveia.
Traffic on that section of the EN17 is taking place in a conditioned way.
At the scene of the accident were the Melo Firefighters, the GNR and the Emergency and Resuscitation Medical Vehicle (VMER) from Guarda, with a total of six vehicles and 11 personnel.
