Man arrested after PSP finds "ammunition in plastic cup"

On April 18, the Public Security Police (PSP) arrested a 53-year-old man in the parish of Santa Clara, in Lisbon, on suspicion of committing the crime of possession of a prohibited weapon.
In a statement on Monday, the security force explained that, when inspecting an establishment, the police "came across several rounds of ammunition inside a plastic cup, as well as an automatic opening knife next to the service counter and therefore easily accessible".
"Firearms and a bag with several rounds of ammunition of various calibers were also found in the establishment's office," the same note reveals.
"Several articles for sale to the public that were in violation" were also seized.
In total, the police action resulted in the seizure of two 8mm caliber alarm guns, an automatic opening bladed weapon, 14 .22mm caliber rounds, four 6.35mm caliber rounds, eight 9mm caliber rounds, four 7.65mm caliber rounds, one 7.62mm caliber round and 157 packs of tobacco in violation.
The suspect was notified to appear in court.
