Youngster kills 11-year-old brother accidentally after finding gun in the street

A 14-year-old boy in Florida told authorities he accidentally shot and killed his 11-year-old brother after finding a gun in an alley near their home, police said.
Officers were called to the family’s home Friday and found Amir Williams suffering from a gunshot wound, according to a news release from the St. Petersburg Police Department. The boy died at the scene.
The teen told investigators that he and his brother had been walking home with their older sister because school had been canceled for the day. Along the way, the teen found the gun, and no one else in the family knew he had it. Their mother was not home at the time of the shooting.
The gun had been reported stolen Wednesday in St. Petersburg, police said.
The shooting remains under investigation, and it’s not clear whether any criminal charges will be filed.
