"Overnight, terrorists fired anti-tank missiles at the Har Dov area in northern Israel, and an Israeli civilian working at an infrastructure site was injured and later pronounced dead," the Israeli army said in a statement.

Israeli media identified the victim as an Arab-Israeli truck driver. Israeli police told AFP the body had not been formally identified but the man was the sole occupant of the truck that was hit.

Har Dov is the Israeli name for the Shebaa Farms, a disputed border area between Israel, Lebanon and Syria.

The Israeli army said its air force "struck Hezbollah targets in the Shebaa area in southern Lebanon, including a weapons storage facility and a missile launcher," as well as "operational infrastructure."

Israeli troops also "fired to eliminate any threat in the area," the Israeli army said.

Hezbollah, for its part, said it carried out "a complex ambush" against an Israeli convoy in the "occupied Shebaa Farms," saying it "destroyed two vehicles."

Since the start of a war between the Islamist group Hamas and Israel on July 7, rocket fire by Hezbollah -- an ally of the Palestinian group -- and Israeli artillery or air strikes in response have become a daily occurrence on the Lebanon-Israel border.

The area was hit by more than 150 shells overnight Thursday, destroying three houses and damaging more than 35, Lebanon's state news agency reported.

The violence between Hezbollah and Israel has killed 380 people on the Lebanese side since July 7, mostly Hezbollah fighters but also 72 civilians, according to an AFP tally. In northern Israel, 11 soldiers and eight civilians have been killed, according to the army.

The Israeli army said Wednesday that its air force and artillery were carrying out an "offensive action" against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon and had killed half of its commanders in the sector, a claim the Lebanese movement has denied.
