Two students from the University of Dundee in Scotland have drowned after they slipped and fell into a waterfall on Wednesday evening. Jitendranath Karuturi, 26, known as Jitu, and Chanhakya Bolisetti, 22, are believed to have been taking photos at the Linn of Tummel waterfall when the incident happened, according to The Guardian. The Indian nationals, who were MSc data science and engineering students, are thought to have been swept away by the current, a friend who was with them said. Two rescue boats were deployed by the Scottish emergency services and recovered the bodies of the victims. The pair had enrolled on their courses in January 2023 and were due to finish in May. Karuturi was a graduate of the University of Hartford in Connecticut. Chanhakya had graduated from the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in Hyderabad in 2022 and had been a student ambassador in Dundee since August last year. "This was a tragic accident which has shocked us all. Our thoughts are with the students' families and friends," the university said in a statement.
