The time of year when mosquitoes start to become a nuisance is almost here. So before they do, you need to start preparing — and instead of buying bug spray filled with chemicals, you can make your own that's all-natural and smells great.
How? Just follow the advice of Shannon Harlow-Ellis, technical expert at Mosquito Joe, a mosquito and pest control company, as told to Martha Stewart's website.

The expert suggests making a simple mixture of coconut oil and peppermint essential oil, a "delicious combination for humans, but it will deter mosquitoes."
To make it, combine 1/3 cup of coconut oil and 15 drops of peppermint essential oil in a jar. "At room temperature, it will be a liquid, but if you store it in the fridge, it will solidify," says the expert. "You can apply it with your fingers on a warm day for a cooling way to keep the bugs away."
