You'll never throw away onion peels again after you learn how good they are for your plants. According to Informe Brasil, you can and should use them as a natural fertilizer.
To make a homemade fertilizer, start by boiling 500 milliliters of water in a pan. Put the onion peels in a jar or a bottle with a lid. Then, pour the water over the peels, close the container and let it sit for three days.

After that time, strain the mixture. The used peels can be buried in the soil, as Informe Brasil explains.
Store the liquid fertilizer in a container and water your seedlings (a simple practice to multiply plants) every seven days.
