Hate battling weeds in your garden? Gardening expert Craig Morley, as featured in Woman & Home, has shared a simple tip to help combat the problem – and it doesn’t involve using chemical-filled weedkillers. All you need is some old, unwanted towels.
First, cut the towels into sections to cover the area you want to protect. Place them over vulnerable areas of soil to act as a barrier to weeds. Then, “cover them with soil and mulch.”
According to the expert, this simple method “stops sunlight from reaching the soil where weeds would grow”, but still allows “moisture and nutrients to get to your plants, keeping the soil moist”.
