After having been on 'Dois às 10' this Thursday morning, May 9, José Castelo Branco returned to TVI, but this time to be interviewed by Sandra Felgueiras on 'Jornal Nacional'.
The socialite started by revealing more details about what Betty Grafstein is said to have told the authorities when she gave a statement for future reference. "'I'm sick of this, I don't know where I am anymore and I don't want to talk anymore'", the jewelry designer is said to have said, according to the art dealer.
José Castelo Branco then explained in more detail what happened to Betty before he took her to the hospital, where she remains hospitalized to this day: "I took her because Betty fell three times that day. I was holding her and she would fall, I tried to lay her down and she would slip. Did the femur fracture happen at the hotel or after I left? I only found out about the femur fracture the next day at 8 pm from the head of department".
It was at that moment that Sandra Felgueiras introduced the first testimony, made by a former friend of the couple, a situation that the anchor says refers to 1996. "Betty had part of her face all black and - more than that - it had even affected her eye. It looked like she had been given a real beating", denounced the witness in question.
José, in response, countered the statements heard and said that the situation was an "accident". "We came from Lisbon and Betty got hurt. She stayed in the room when we got home. She didn't want to go to the hospital because there was no need", he noted.
Further on, Sandra Felgueiras read the complaint made by the CUF Hospital in Cascais, which states, among other things, that Betty Grafstein "reported to different health professionals at different times facts that constitute domestic violence". "Why would five health professionals sign this complaint, without knowing him from anywhere, to start a process that culminated in his separation from Betty?", asked the journalist. "It was convenient. Those people didn't do anything signed", replied José.
In the meantime, Betty's statements were heard once again. "He's a vulture and he did this. He pushed me and shook me back and forth", said the jewelry designer, in a recording that was given to TVI. "Betty was fine, she had about 20 or 30 hospitalizations in New York and I always went with my wife. My pain is called Betty. It's very convenient, at this moment of Betty's fragility, for many people who want to take me out of the deck. I'm a card that many good people don't care about", said the art dealer in relation to what was heard.
Sandra Felgueiras then listed the crimes that appear on José Castelo Branco's record. "When they talk to me about Betty's name, I can't take it", he countered, explaining that the situations in question happened to protect his partner.
"I can carry my cross, I'll carry it until the end, but I want to save my Betty", José concluded, with Sandra Felgueiras ending the interview.
