Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone, two of the biggest names in action cinema, sat down for a joint interview for 'TMZ Presents: Arnold & Sly: Rivals, Friends, Icons'.
Speaking about their former rivalry, which was most notable in the 1980s and 1990s, the actors acknowledged the importance they both played in each other's careers.
"He was very instrumental in my career because it set a goal for me that I wanted to achieve," said Schwarzenegger, now 76.
"As soon as I saw him it was like that - two alpha males. If we were at a party we would just stare at each other for a few seconds and then I would think 'I have to catch up with him. He hasn't missed a beat yet, but he will'," he recalled.
Schwarzenegger also confessed that he was the one who started the rivalry when he began "saying stupid things" and being "competitive".
Once rivals, they are now friends. Arnold also noted that he admires Stallone for his "dedication and passion".
For Stallone, it was Schwarzenegger's security that most caught his attention.
"He's like a season that never changes. He's very organised, calculated, thoughtful. I'm not, I'm very emotional and I can be affected by things that don't make logical sense. And that's when you make mistakes, when your heart is driving and not your brain," he added.
