Tax workers want urgent meeting with minister
The Tax Workers Union requested an "urgent meeting" with the Minister of Finance, wondering why the initiative for the meeting did not come from Miranda Sarmento, as other ministers are doing in the areas they oversee.

"The Union of Tax Workers (STI) urgently wants to meet with the Minister of State and Finance", says the union structure in a statement sent to its members.
In this information, the STI states that, in view of the meetings held between professionals and other tutelages, such as Health, Internal Administration, Justice, Education and Defense, the workers "find it strange" that Miranda Sarmento "has not yet called the workers' representatives to meet".
The STI says that the workers of the Tax and Customs Authority (AT) "did not see their careers valued in 2023, as happened with the general career of senior technicians, the medical career, the IT career, among others".
In a statement sent to the newsrooms, the STI says that it wants to see the problems of the sector "solved with dialogue and not with confrontation", having requested an urgent meeting to "know the government's intentions, in relation to the workers who keep the Tax and Customs Authority running", despite the "enormous existing constraints".
On Tuesday, a common platform formed by the Union of Professionals of the Tax and Customs Inspection (APIT), the Union of Tax Workers (STI), the Union of ASAE Employees (ASF-ASAE) and the National Union of ASAE Professionals (SNP-ASAE), delivered to the Ministries of Finance and Economy a list of demands where, among other matters, it demands a revision of the salary tables that guarantees the differentiation in relation to general careers, which ceased to exist with the recent salary increase of senior technicians.
