Rio Ave registered another draw in the I League (the 16th in 30 matches played), this Friday, against Arouca (1-1), adding an important point in the fight for maintenance, against an opponent that had three consecutive triumphs.

In a somewhat close first half, the Vilacondenses managed to go to the break in advantage, thanks to a 'header' by Joca, at 36 minutes, in a move initially canceled for offside, by the assistant referee, but later validated by the video referee, by 14 centimeters. However, right at the start of the second half, Rafa Mujica did it again and appeared in the right place to tie the match (47'), benefiting from a misfortune by Jhonatan in the approach to the move, followed by minutes of great uncertainty in the opponent's penalty area. In just six minutes, Luís Freire's team saw the assistant referee invalidate three goals for offside, first to Aziz (52') and then to Costinha (56' and 58'), without any need to resort to VAR in the respective moves. Until the final whistle, Boateng still shot at the post, but Daniel Sousa's team also threatened the comeback, through Remeseiro, Trezza and Cristo, with no further changes to register. With this result, Rio Ave now has 31 points in 11th place, slightly more comfortable in the fight for maintenance, while Arouca is sixth, with 44 points, waiting to see what Moreirense will do, against Gil Vicente.
