Four Portuguese coaches at the start of the Mozambican championship
The Mozambican football championship, the Moçambola, kicks off on April 20, preceded by the Super Cup game at the start of the season, this Saturday, and will feature four Portuguese coaches among 12 teams in the top tier.

The first game of the season, the Mário Coluna Super Cup, will be played this Saturday at the Campo Municipal de Maxixe between Ferroviário da Beira (2023 champion) and Associação Black Bulls (winner of the Mozambique Cup).
The Portuguese coach Hélder Duarte, who won the 2023 Moçambola for the Beira team, now sits on the bench of Black Bulls, a Maputo team where he was national champion in 2021.
Black Bulls is the club where Geny Catamo, the best Mozambican player of the moment, was trained before being transferred to Sporting, where he has been standing out in recent times.
This year, the Moçambola will have three more Portuguese coaches: Daúto Faquirá, at Ferroviário da Beira, Horácio Gonçalves, at Costa do Sol, and Sérgio Branco, at Ferroviário de Maputo.
In the Moçambola, over 22 rounds, divided into two rounds, with 11 rounds each, 12 teams will try to win the most important title in Mozambican football, according to the calendar released by the Mozambican Football Federation (FMF).
Another Portuguese coach who will play in the Moçambola and who has already won the competition is Horácio Gonçalves, who won the trophy for Costa do Sol in 2019.
After leaving Costa do Sol, where he returned in 2023, Gonçalves was also the national coach of Mozambique, having been fired due to poor results.
The 2024 national championship starts on April 20 and will be played until November 10.
The final of the Mozambique Cup, the second most important competition, will be played between November 23 and 24.
