Enrique Cerezo, president of Atlético de Madrid, considered that "the normal thing" is that the Portuguese João Félix wants to stay at Barcelona, the club where he plays on loan, because he is standing out there, while defending that he is "a great player".
"He is playing at Barcelona and it is normal that he wants to stay there. Barcelona wants him and he wants to stay there, so we are all very happy. In addition, he will be lucky because Barcelona is keeping a great and magnificent player. João is a magnificent player. He has adapted very well to Barcelona, he is playing very well and what we wish him is all the luck in the world. I don't know how much Atleti would keep him for. You have to ask the people in charge of the economy, I'm in charge of sports", he said, in statements quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
Cerezo, who was awarded at the presentation of the eighth edition of a tournament associated with the club, also referred to the controversy involving the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF): "It is a real shame that the Spanish Federation is in this situation. What they have to do is try to resolve it quickly, the sooner it is resolved, the better for Spanish football and for the federation", he said.
