A couple was rescued by the Bombeiros Voluntários Madeirenses on Friday in an operation that lasted 13 hours.
The alert was given at 5 pm, after a couple fell in the mountains of the region. However, the authorities did not know "exactly the location" of the victims, as reported by the Madeira Regional Civil Protection Service on Facebook.
"The citizen who gave the alert sent several coordinates, all of them different, leading the team to travel along several trails in search of the couple, from Ribeiro Frio, Curral das Freiras and finally, Santo António", can be read in the publication.
At 9:30 pm, the firefighters arrived at Levada da Viana/Curral das Freiras, having covered the trail and found, about 1:30 am, the couple who were conscious and oriented but with injuries to the scalp.
The operatives then prepared all the rescue equipment and the operation lasted about 1:30 am.
"Given the instability of the route, the team decided to leave through Curral das Freiras, ending the rescue at 6 am on April 27", it is also mentioned.
