Preventive detention for 7 of the 18 arrested for drug trafficking in Castelo Branco
Seven of the 18 arrested in a drug trafficking operation carried out by the Judicial Police (PJ) in the district of Castelo Branco were remanded in custody.

The information was revealed today by the Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) of Castelo Branco, in a note published on the official website of this entity on the internet.
The PJ arrested 18 people on the 16th, for alleged drug trafficking in the municipalities of Covilhã, Fundão, Castelo Branco and Idanha-a-Nova, district of Castelo Branco.
The 18 detainees were presented the following day for the first judicial interrogation, after which seven of the defendants were ordered to be held in preventive detention, 10 to be subject to periodic presentation and prohibition of contact, and one to be subject to treatment for drug addiction.
In the operation "Entre Serras", 14 men and four women were arrested in compliance with arrest warrants issued by the judicial authority, within the scope of an investigation pending with the PJ for two years.
In addition to the arrests, 34 searches were carried out, 20 of which were at homes, and approximately six thousand euros in cash, digital scales, a vehicle and various telecommunications and computer equipment were seized.
The investigation continues under the direction of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Castelo Branco, with the assistance of the PJ - Criminal Investigation Department (DIC) of Guarda.
