The National Maritime Authority (AMN) announced the rescue of a dog on Thursday afternoon, who was "isolated in a cave" near Carreiro de Joanes, in Peniche.

The alert was given around 3:45 pm by a civilian, who "was nearby and saw the dog fall from a cliff".

Two members of the Peniche Maritime Police Local Command and two crew members from the Peniche Lifeboat Station rescued this afternoon, April 25, a dog that was isolated in a cave, near Carreiro de Joanes beach, in Peniche.

Members of the Peniche Maritime Police and the Peniche Volunteer Firefighters were then activated to the site.

Upon arriving at the site, it was possible to verify "that the cave where the dog was located was difficult to access", so the "crew members of the Peniche Lifeboat Station" were activated, who ended up being able to access the cave and rescue the dog, placing him "in a suitable area to be lifted by the firefighters".

"The dog, who had been missing for three days, was handed over to its owners, without injuries", also highlights the AMN in a note.
