ASAE seizes 4 tons of meat unfit for consumption. Worth €21,000
The Food Safety Authority executed four search warrants in the municipalities of Batalha and Caldas da Rainha. Seized products were sent "for destruction or animal feed".

The Food and Economic Safety Authority (ASAE), through the Southern Regional Unit - Santarém Operational Unit -, carried out, at the end of last week, "the execution of four search warrants, carried out within the scope of combating the crime of clandestine slaughter and marketing of abnormal spoiled or corrupt foodstuffs", in the municipalities of Batalha and Caldas da Rainha.
As a result of the action, the authority explains in a statement to which Notícias ao Minuto had access, the "seizure of 4,260 kg of meat products, namely carcasses of sheep, frozen sheep meat and frozen chicken, with an approximate value of 21,130.00 euros" was determined.
After the expert analysis, the "routing of meat products for destruction or animal feed" was carried out, according to the analysis carried out.
In the same note, ASAE states that "it will continue to carry out inspection actions, within the scope of its competences, throughout the national territory, in favor of healthy and fair competition between economic operators, in safeguarding food safety and public health of consumers".
