The position is included in the final declaration of a meeting in Riyadh between the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Faisal bin Farhan; Egypt, Sameh Shukri; Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz; and Jordan, Ayman Safadi, as well as the diplomatic adviser to the President of the United Arab Emirates, Anwar Gargash, and the Palestinian Minister of Civil Affairs, Hussein al-Sheikh.

"The need to end the war in the Gaza Strip, achieve an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire" and ensure the protection of civilians in accordance with international humanitarian law, is stated in the declaration.

This consultative ministerial meeting took place on the eve of the start, in Saudi Arabia, of the extraordinary meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), which will last until Monday and will focus on the situation in the Middle East, especially on the war launched by Israel in the Gaza Strip.

The World Economic Forum meeting, dedicated to adapting to climate change and energy transition, will be attended by some of the main players in the efforts to stop the conflict in Gaza, such as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

WEF President Borge Brende said today that Blinken would go to Saudi Arabia "immediately after his visits to China and before going to Israel" and the State Department confirmed today that the US chief diplomat will be in Saudi Arabia on Monday and Tuesday.

The World Economic Forum is also expected to receive the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, and the foreign ministers of France, Germany and the United Kingdom, the head of diplomacy of the European Union, Josep Borrell, as well as the prime ministers of Qatar, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq.
