Brent quotation for June delivery rises 0.55%
The price of a barrel of Brent oil for delivery in June closed today on the London futures market up by 0.55%, to $89.50.

North Sea crude, the European benchmark, closed the session on the International Exchange Futures at $89.50, 49 cents above the $89.01 at which it closed on Thursday.
Brent maintained its upward trend thanks to statistics on the US economy, which suggest that the Federal Reserve is about to start cutting its benchmark interest rate.
Investors are confident that a cut in this rate, both in the US, where it has been between 5.25% and 5.50%, and in the UK, where it is at 5.2%, will boost economic growth and, therefore, demand for raw materials.
