"All sectors have reached agreements, which means that there will be wage readjustments. It is a fact that we already have agreements and from here we will wait for the percentages (of increases) for the future," said Paulino Cossa, representative of the CTA, speaking to journalists after the meeting, which involved the Government, employers and unions.
Mozambican employers have not provided dates or percentages for an increase in the base salary of Mozambique, which is currently 8,758 meticais (127.8 euros).
The National Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Mozambique (Consilmo) argued that the increases should be made based on the country's basic basket, considering that this would contribute to the worker responding to market demand.
"In the negotiations on the minimum wage, this issue of the basic basket is put aside, there is only discussion about the delta and production, but the best thing would be the basic basket," said Boaventura Simbinde, representative of Consilmo, stating, however, that "the most important thing is that the base salary is changed".
"From the moment that salaries are discussed in the sector of activity, the expectation is enormous for both employers and workers," said Clara Munguambe, representative of the Organization of Workers of Mozambique -- Central Sindical.
The last readjustment of the minimum wage in Mozambique occurred in April 2023.
