The architectural project for the undertaking in the headquarters building of this local authority in the Aveiro district has already been approved and the overall cost of the respective works is estimated at 650,000 euros, with the work having an execution period that "should not exceed 150 days".

For the mayor, Domingos Silva, this involves, on the one hand, implementing effective equal opportunities, since "anyone must be able to physically access municipal services without difficulty", and on the other hand, it is intended to reformulate the physical layout of the offices "where some of the organic units of the local authority are located, increasing their efficiency".

The announced intervention is still awaiting the preparation of the respective specialty projects, but will focus mainly on the elimination of physical and architectural barriers in the city council building and in the property comprised by Ruas Teixeira de Queirós and Heliodoro Salgado.

In the main building of the Town Hall, the undertaking will thus focus on the Single Service Counter, which will now have direct access from Rua Teixeira de Queirós, and on the creation of sanitary facilities suitable for people with reduced mobility.

In the building between ruas Teixeira de Queirós and Heliodoro Salgado, "the ground floor will be deeply restructured", which will allow "optimising the available useful space and the reorganisation of services", and "the entire first floor" will also be reorganised, so that municipal services can be accommodated there, including "a shared meeting room.

The mayor also highlights that a connection zone will be created between these municipal buildings and that, within the scope of the same work, "a lift will be installed that will allow access to any part of the two properties".
