"The Navigator Company today announced that it will increase the prices of its 'tissue' papers by between 8% and 10%" in "all markets where it operates, for shipments from May 2024, with the aim of mitigating the increase in production costs", it said.
The decision, which is being communicated to its customers, was made following a very significant increase in production costs that has been accentuated since August 2023, namely for paper pulp, which is "the main cost factor in the production of 'tissue'".
According to Navigator, "the international benchmark index for the price of pulp (short fiber) has risen by 65% since August 2023", and "last week, a new pulp price was announced for May which will be the highest price ever historically recorded in the sector, representing an additional 10% increase compared to today's price", it highlighted.
The group assured that "this exceptional measure is essential to guarantee the long-term sustainability not only of its business model and financial balance but also of the global supply chain, together with its customers and suppliers".
Navigator recorded net results of 275 million euros in 2023, a 30% reduction compared to 2022, the group said, in a statement published by the Securities Market Commission (CMVM), in February.
