Over one and a half million people had delays at domestic airports
According to AirHelp, "more than 67 thousand passengers were eligible to receive compensation either because their flight was delayed by more than three hours".

"In the first three months of 2024, more than five million and 700 thousand passengers caught a flight from an airport in Portugal and about 44 thousand flights took off from Portugal", refers AirHelp, in a statement, adding that "72% of the trips were made at the scheduled time, however, more than one and a half million passengers saw their flight suffer some disturbance".
AirHelp adds that, "although in most cases these were minor delays that do not imply financial compensation, more than 67 thousand passengers were eligible to receive compensation either due to a delay of their flight of more than three hours, the cancellation of their flight or the loss of a connection caused by the delay of the first flight".
"Compared to the previous year, in the same period, there was a slight decrease in the number of air passengers and flights: more than five million and 900 thousand passengers and more than 45 thousand flights, in 2023. In 2024, the number of disturbances improved with delayed or canceled flights decreasing", it can be read.
The data also reveals that March is the month that stands out: "more than 15 thousand flights were carried out and almost two million passengers were registered. It is, therefore, natural that there were more disturbances with 35% of the flights suffering disturbances, as well as 35% of the passengers dealing with some problem on their flight".
