Mainz announced, in the form of a statement issued from the official platforms at the end of the morning this Thursday, that it was forced to close the MEWA Arena, after a bomb was discovered to be detonated, dating back to World War II.

"The detonation work of the World War II bomb will also lead to restrictions in the operations of the Mainz headquarters, in Isaac-Fulda-Alle, and in the MEWA Arena store, on Friday, both of which will remain closed", says the club, which hopes to be able to resume operations on Monday.

According to information released by the German press, the explosive device weighs about 500 kilograms and belongs to the United States Army, having been discovered during the renovation work of a university, in the vicinity.

It remains to be seen what the solution will be for the meeting of the 31st round of the Bundesliga, against Cologne, which is scheduled for 4:30 pm (Continental Portugal time) next Sunday, precisely in this stadium.
