The emotional reason behind Phil Foden's No 47 shirt: 'I'll never change it'
English international wants to build his "own legacy" at Manchester City

Phil Foden has opened up on the reasons behind his choice of shirt number at Manchester City in an extensive interview with Friday's Daily Mail.
"As a young player you don't get much choice really in what you can have on your shirt. I had a few numbers sent through to me and none of them really meant anything to me apart from that one, the No 47," the England international, who is approaching his 23rd birthday, began.
"That was the age that my grandad was when he passed away. I was quite young when we lost him. I remember going to Wales with him and stuff. My dad said he used to love playing with me. I asked my dad if he would be happy for me to have that number."
"He said it would be brilliant so I went with it and I've loved it ever since. I've got it tattooed on me now and it's a shirt I can't see myself ever changing. It's nice to make it your own. It's a weird number that no one really takes so hopefully when I finish, the No 47 at City will be known as Phil Foden's."
