'Oh my Jesus'. Record falls with a crash and Al Hilal complicates the Champions

Al Hilal put an end to their world record winning streak on Wednesday, after being defeated in their visit to Al Ain (2-4) in the first leg of the semifinals of the Asian Champions League. Jorge Jesus' team failed to achieve their 35th consecutive victory and tasted defeat again after 43 matches, making their mission to reach the final of the Asian competition more difficult.

Match summary

After the storm that forced the postponement of the match in the United Arab Emirates, initially scheduled for yesterday, Tuesday, Al Hilal experienced a first half of pure nightmare. Soufiane Rahimi completed a hat-trick in just over half an hour (6', 26' and 38'), with two penalties.

In the second half, the Saudi team managed to react and Malcom reduced the score to 49 minutes. Al Ain were not impressed and restored their three-goal advantage shortly after, again through a penalty, this time successfully converted by Kaku.

The tie was getting complicated for Jorge Jesus, but Al Dawsari, in the 78th minute, scored the second Saudi goal of the afternoon and reduced the distance on the scoreboard, leaving everything open for the second leg.

The second leg, in Saudi Arabia, is scheduled for next Tuesday and is set to start at 7 pm (mainland Portugal time).
