Futebol Clube Alverca issued, at the end of Monday night, a note of regret for the death of Mariana Rodrigues Silva, a 14-year-old athlete who was part of the kenpo team, a popular martial art.

"The Futebol Clube Alverca family is mourning the kenpoca Maria Rodrigues Silva. 14/5/2009 to 14/4/2004. Mariana... Girl, daughter, friend, colleague, champion, granddaughter, goddaughter, student, sister, niece. You leave extraordinary memories to those who saw you smile and an immense void where you passed. With love from family and friends", it says.

According to information provided by Correio da Manhã, the young woman did not survive the injuries suffered last Sunday, when the motorcycle she was riding with her father collided with a car, on National Road 248-3, in Alhandra.

The road accident, which allegedly took place when both were leaving a bikers' gathering, also caused two injuries.
