Paul Clement has given an extensive interview to Monday's edition of British newspaper The Sun, in which he discussed a number of topics, including his time working with Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.

The 52-year-old Englishman believes the 62-year-old Italian is one of the "top three managers in the world" right now, along with Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp and Manchester City's Pep Guardiola. To illustrate this, he gave an example of something he witnessed at the Santiago Bernabeu involving Cristiano Ronaldo.

"At Real Madrid, Carlo had this idea of playing Ronaldo as a No 9, so he didn't have to come short. He had this argument with Cristiano, who said he wanted to play from the left," he said.

"Carlo knew he had to keep him happy, so he played two systems. A 4-3-3 when we were attacking, with Ronaldo on the left, and then a 4-4-2 when we were defending, with Ronaldo up front.

"We see that a lot now but it was quite revolutionary at the time. He is brilliant at man-management. Not just with big players but look at the presidents he has worked under. Silvio Berlusconi at AC Milan, Roman Abramovich at Chelsea and Florentino Perez at Real Madrid."
