"Pedro Fidalgo Marques, recognized for his dedication to the defense of human rights, animals, and the environment, leads the PAN list for the 2024 European elections", the party announced in publications released at dawn.

Pedro Fidalgo Marques is a member of the PAN National Political Commission and a member of the Board of the party's highest political leadership body between congresses. He was also a candidate for deputy, third on the Lisbon list in the legislative elections of March 10.

In publications on social networks such as Instagram and Facebook, PAN highlighted that Pedro Fidalgo Marques is an "experienced activist and social entrepreneur".

"With extensive experience in community activism and culture, Pedro is an inspiring voice in the search for a fairer, more inclusive, and sustainable Europe", the party stressed.

The same publications mention that the second candidate will be Tânia Mesquita, who is a member of the National Political Commission and the Permanent Political Commission, a more restricted leadership body. Tânia Mesquita was on the PAN lists for the Lisbon City Council and the last legislative elections.

In third place on the list is Rafael Pinto, also a member of the National Political Commission, who was the top candidate for Braga in the legislative elections.

Alexandra Moreira, Hugo Alexandre Trindade, Sandra Pimenta, Valter Ramos, Sílvia Marques, Ernesto Morais, Beatriz Salafranca, António Morgado, Liliana Vieira, João Fontes Costa, Isabel do Carmo, Rodrigo Andrade, Marta Correia, Saul Rosa, Fátima Cabral, Dinarte Pimentel, Vera Matos, and Paulo Vieira de Castro also make up the PAN list for the European elections.

This list of effective candidates represents a complete renewal compared to the last European elections, which were held in 2019.

PAN considered that it presents a "diverse and dedicated team" and reaffirmed its "commitment to the ideals of freedom, justice, and sustainability, which so deeply characterize the spirit of April 25", a revolution that is now 50 years old.

"Through its leadership and the collaboration of a committed team, PAN will continue to fight for the fundamental values that inspire the Carnation Revolution. We believe that it is essential to elect representatives dedicated to the cause of people, animals, and nature, and we are confident that Pedro Fidalgo Marques and the team are the right people for the job".

In the last European elections, in May 2019, the People-Animals-Nature party was elected for the first time, having gathered 5.08% of the votes (168,501 ballots).

About a year later, in June 2020, MEP Francisco Guerreiro left the party due to "political differences" with the leadership, then led by André Silva.

The European elections are scheduled for June 9.
