Navy accompanies Russian container ship from Caminha to the Algarve
The action took place from April 24 to 25.

The Portuguese Navy carried out the monitoring of a Russian Federation container ship, Sparta IV, which began on April 24, at the northern limit of the continent's Exclusive Economic Zone, off the coast of Caminha, and ended on Thursday, April 25, on the southern coast of the Algarve.
In a statement sent to Notícias ao Minuto, the Navy reveals that the NRP Viana do Castelo was used in the action, with the support of the Maritime Operations Center, "which guarantees active and continuous surveillance of areas under national sovereignty or jurisdiction".
"Serving Portugal at sea, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, the Navy will continue to monitor the passage of this type of ship, through permanent monitoring of maritime spaces under national sovereignty or jurisdiction, in order to protect the interests of Portugal in and through the sea", reads the same note.
