Thousands are already going down the Avenue to celebrate 50 years in freedom
Several thousand people began to go down Avenida da Liberdade, in the traditional parade of 25th April, today to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the revolution.

An hour before the start of the parade, scheduled for 3 pm, the Marquês de Pombal area was filled with a growing crowd of people with red carnations in their hands or on their chests.
To the sound of drums, the slogans "25th of April, forever, fascism never again" and under dozens of Portuguese flags, political parties, trade union organizations and civic and some Palestinian movements, the parade started slowly, but in a party atmosphere, around 3:30 pm, after the two chaimites arrived at the Avenida.
Among the several thousand demonstrators, people of all generations crossed paths, some who had already taken to the streets 50 years ago and others who were born in freedom and made a point of celebrating it. "I wasn't there, but I am here. April 25th, forever," read a poster.
