According to the president of STEPH, Rui Lázaro, "the list of missing objects is still being prepared", but at least several pieces of official INEM uniforms were stolen, as well as the ambulance's computer, which the person in charge considered "essential for its operation".

"The computer, several pieces of uniform, food are missing and they are still assessing the rest", he added.

A PSP source confirmed the occurrence, but did not provide further details.

According to the president of the union, "this is the second assault on the same base this week, which reveals an extreme lack of security for INEM (National Institute of Medical Emergency) professionals".

Rui Lázaro added that these assaults "are also a consequence of the long periods of inoperability of INEM ambulances", during which the bases, as well as the ambulances themselves, "are left without any professionals nearby".

He also stressed that the safety of INEM professionals "has been one of the union's concerns", which says it has alerted the president of INEM "several times".

"However, no measures have been adopted to provide more security for professionals", he added.

The president of STEPH also said that the ambulance that was now assaulted was inoperable from Monday at 9:00 pm to Wednesday at 8:00 am. Then, it was inoperable again from 8:00 pm on Wednesday.

This base had been inaugurated on January 31 of this year.
