The Republican National Guard (GNR) arrested two people for drug trafficking in the municipalities of Loulé and Olhão, in the district of Faro.
In a statement, the GNR explained that the detainees are a woman and a man aged 38 and 40, respectively.
The investigation into drug trafficking had been ongoing for about a month, and it was concluded that the detainees were "organised in order to distribute the drug product for sale to consumers" in these municipalities in the Algarve.
An arrest warrant and three search warrants were executed, in addition to a search warrant on a vehicle.
This resulted in the seizure of 5,128 doses of heroin, 1,006 doses of cocaine, four mobile phones, a vehicle, a precision scale and "various materials used to adulterate and package drug products".
The detainees were brought before the Faro Judicial Court on Wednesday for the application of coercive measures.
